I think all Forumites should sail the passage right through the middle of the Falklands then send an e-mail to the President of Argentina telling her how nice it is.

I won't be there for a while yet mind Unhappy arrived at a gate just in time to spend a good 24 hours sitting smack in the middle of the low with no obvious way out! Have been catching RS700 for the last couple of days but unless he gets caught in it he will gain min a further 24 hours.

ps who is Marmitelova? I think you may have missed the gate as your track shows passing just south and and your placings are behind both me & RS700 but you are further East.

Gonna try East again, cause forecast in 24+hours looks much better to be East.

You are heading due North...

Yep, the wine was already affecting me!

Should have said West of Falklands which I'm doing. I'm dropping places fast though.

No fun if a few risks aren't taken.

Looking at the wind patterns this morning, going west of the Falklands, is looking ok.  It is too early to see if it is a good call, but I don't think you will lose much.  I seriously thought about it last night but I would have had to change course in the early hours (which wasn't going to happen) to get the angle. Also by me going East then I have a chance to overtake you if it doesn't pay!

I do like the idea of sailing through the middle of the Islands singing Rule Britannia...

What could possibly go wrong?

Marmitelova is Getafix.  And unfortunately it looks like you are right re: the gate.

Yes I considered going through the middle of the Falklands, but it would have meant a couple of course changes in the early hours which I wasn't going to be doing.

If you look at the virtual satellite image a surprising number of people are going through the middle!

On the sailing front I'm trying to get used to only making 2 squares in a 12 hour period. I'm so used to covering 6+ that it makes planning much more difficult now.

We'll just get every other competitor to write a letter to the race committee and we'll be back in again....

Are you in this race?

Nope- I believe pretending to race on the computer is crossing over 'that' line, it's almost as bad as RC Laser... ;-)
