I have to agree with Chris N too. Its important to remember that when you start one job on your new boat you will discover at least three that need sorting too. Better to spend time going sailing and then do new things when its cold...

If we had a boat to do these things on, it would be good!

well guys, theres a new entry on the listings on the cherub website, and to be quite honest £300 for a boat split 3 ways is virtually nothing to have to pay for a boat, if your finding it hard to come up with that, then your going to be hard pushed to afford any upgrades anyway. Best plan is to get a initial boat you can sail first and foremost, then get out there with it and you never know what opportuinites will arise when people see you have the boat. And looking at the advert, this one is prime and ready to go for upgrades as soon as you are ready
http://www.sailingsource.com/cherub/chframe.php
there you go, its a really nice looking boat, and looks reasonably fast aswell, given that not only the shape but they have fitted toe loops which would suggest that they have been required in the past, also there is no bulkhead below the mast, and with that false floor, it would make a much easier conversion than many other designs, also false floors, tend to suggest a good draining boat. From the add it sounds like a fairly well sorted hull as its been retaped and refinished so the initial TLC usually accompanied with buying a wooden boat has been eliminated so this couldnt be a better package for you guys, just buy it and then sail it straight away after you scrounged a tiller extension from some old tube or anything and pintels only cost no more than £10
or theres another further down the page for £200, not as good a deal, but your going to get what you pay for really Edited by Chris Noble |

that's very true. The hull shape looks quite nice, quite stable but
also nice and flat so it would have some get up and go! £100 each is
nothing. I paid more than that today to get my sails fixed! So better
to get something that works to start with as it soon adds up when u
have to start paying people to fix things if you can't do it yourself.

Well yeah Will had told me about that one, and i emailed the owner and obviously he said he wouldnt accept anywhere lower than that. Sadly i dont have enough money for that but if its still around when i have money and so does everyone else, well we will get it because it looks lush. but i doubt it will ! |

Aww, yeah that's okay!! I'll have a look in magazines too for a cheapie, cos sometimes they go really quickly, but it doesn't matter if you haven't got the money - I'd be scraping everywhere for 100! Oh, and hey, I just noticed - you need to get out more!!! |
