I thought it said March! Bloody hell July is ages away. I don't think i will be here for that.. That is a real let down.. Why didn't they go for next weekend!?!?!

Tiger Trophy Postponed Following a detailed inspection of Rutland Sailing Club, the approach roads and the weather forecast over the coming days, and despite an heroic effort by the club to clear lying snow, the decision has been made to postpone the John Merricks Tiger Trophy. This is the first time that the event has been affected by inclement weather conditions in it’s 17 year history. Rutland Sailing Club has therefore rescheduled the event for the weekend of the 11th and 12th July, with the Tiger Dinner and Ball being held on Saturday 11th July. Some 160 teams have already entered the event, and we are asking them to hold their fee over to the new date. The net proceeds of the event go to the John Merricks Sailing Trust to assist young sailors in establishing themselves in the sport of sailing. Everyone associated with the organisation of the event has worked very hard to make the regatta happen, and are now working equally tirelessly to rearrange suppliers, volunteers, accomodation, caterers and musicians. They are most concerned to let sailors know that this decision was not made lightly. It is hoped that the alternative summer date will be as successful as the traditional winter date. just had a look on rutlands shore cam and conditions look very poor.

the website aslso has 75 people viewing it, lots of people waiting for the call

looking at the forcast i think it would be the sensible idea to postpone the event, road conditions and possible sailing conditions could potentially be fatal.

We all want a tiger trophy with 200 boats there which runs smoothly wth no problems

Water temperature wasn't too bad 2 weekends ago but it has had rather a lot of snow dumped in it since.. I doubt it will be much colder than it was last year though.

Gritters are one thing, but if it is still slushy and then refreezes tonight, it will still be bad.

Not only have they got to think about the conditions themselves, they have to consider the water temperature. After all if it takes you 2 hours to get there when you planned 1 hour, then you'll be rushing around and possible be a hazard to yourself and others.
