I have at 17, but been doing a load of cycling on the way to work over summer which has helped, so am now ready to get back into a boat rather than sitting in a rib teaching people.

Maybe an RS600 with the wide racks and short rig?

Try a Blaze - turbo charged armchair racing and really kind on 'laser' knees once you get moving !  You might be a bit light for it though ....Wings and good hikers are surprisingly comfortable and I'd recommend pasta and good bitter to pile on a few KG's.  Many years ago I had a great  OK whch was exceptionally comfortable as well, only really beaten by the Tasar for comfort if you go for a crew boat (min crew weight is 130kg so you could find a 'medium' partner.

It is your technique not the boat which is causing issues with your joints. I am sure Y&Y will have an article out in the not too distant future...

Yeah I've tried quiten a few different laser hiking techniques but none have really worked.  The problem I face is that I'm too light for most boats and would ideally want to helm from the wire.  But until I can find a boat where a 55kg kid can do that I'm in a bit of a no-win situation

Anything with a sensible amount of freeboard - say double or more what the Laser has will be much better. But the ultimate boat for sitting out without boiling your kness is the International Canoe.

There may well be technique things you can do to make the LAser a bit easier on your knees though.

After a windy sail in my laser my knees were almost dying and i could barely walk.  If I carry on like this i think I'll be in a grannymobile by the time i'm 30.
So.....are there any hiking boats (single-handed or double) that are easier on your knees to hike from than a laser, ie. dont do so much damage?
Thanks,
PB
