If you move the ice gates South by the amount they have moved relative to my track then turtle would have indeed crossed. I'd be pretty angry if this is the case and I was him!

Your historical tracks are gradually averaged, so I wouldn't rely on the track too much. I guess it is their way of saving data with over 400k users.

Since most of us try not to overshoot the gates too much, then it is quite likely the corner is cut off our tracks.

Having said that it does sound like missing the gate is the most likely reason for turtlerecall's position. I don't leave a gate until it goes green, which as far as I can tell happens the moment you cross the line.

Just found out that you can look up your boat stats in the race, including which bouys(gates) have been validated. Worth checking for those that are concerned. BTW Hazeltine, Andy101 - it looks like you're going to miss some gates unless you act quickly...

The interesting one amongst the stats is that it gives you your best 24 hour runl.

Mine is 564.9nm ending at 10am this morning. That's with no options, so I presume some of you with the options must have racked up even more.

Go into My Virtual Regatta (pink button on the right of the screen), then click dashboard from the options on the left.  I have only discovered it since rb mentioned it - 539 miles is my best.
What could possibly go wrong?

Looks like you found it. I only discovered it yesterday myself.
Also looks like a lot of us are going to get swallowed by a ridge of high pressure. I'll be pretty stationary in 12 hours in time. Meanwhile the leaders, just like in the real race are steaming to New Zealand. One of the french sites does a virtual satellite map of the race which shows how spread out we are:

Should point out that Green boats are Sans Options (without options) and Red are Avec Options (with options).

Also reckon we may have some man overboard situations on the forum boats. Turtlerecall and Andy101 must have fallen off with the autopilot engaged - next stop antarctica.

I think snow blindness has inflicted Sgtpepper, Hazeltine and Andy101 who have all missed ice gates. I suspect turtle and Andy101 then threw themselves overboard having missed the ice gate.

Ginge(Hazeltine), you now appear to be heading back up to the ice gate. For future ref. you need to pass North of one of the ends or cross the line between the ends of each ice gate. The gate will change to green once you are through.I guess SgtPepper lulled you into following him?
