I am not a designer so am happy to wait and see if the v-twin really is the promised second coming.

But what now intrigues me far more is what grf will be wearing to sail it, as he derides the 'silly clown clothes' the rest of us prefer to the jeans or aqua-equipment diy wetsuits of my youth. So do we think it will be:

Full black tie outfit, DJ et al, like the orchestra on the titanic
Just his speedos
Divers aqualung, wetsuit and lead weights for extra righting moment
Jodpers, red blazer and riding crop
Nothing at all
Full lycra superman outfit, including cape
Stockings, suspenders and push-up corset
Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow outfit, including wig and eye-make-up
Incontinence pants for when its stellar performance scares him sh1tless
or just Jeans and a Frank Sinatra "I did it my way" t-shirt

Any other suggestions??

The boat has become irrelevant, that it will revolutionise dinghy sailing is clearly a foregone conclusion (in grf's mind anyway). What we now need to know is how our sailing kit will be equally outmoded at a stroke.

So what's it going to be Graeme????

68kgs BARE HULL WEIGHT ... add to that a very heavy metal mast with a heavy stiffener shoved in the top plus a metal boom, foils rudder stock; all the ropes and the sails and you havnt got much change out of 100kgs ...

As for rude I learnt of GFR Wink

Dunno why he's so down on toppers given this thing looks a lot like a big topper ... LOL

That bloke on the other thread had the answer paint it BROWN LOL

Well done GRF, looks like all your effort has finally paid off.  It’s certainly quite an achievement to engineer a new hull design concept.  Hopefully the results will also prove fruitful.   It’s something we're all dying to see on the water.

One comment, without knowing your 3d dynamic modeling results, the front seems to be designed more like a RIB than a displacement sailing hull.  I'm sure that this would be fine for off wind but I suspect it would suffer when facing waves since it would not cut through them very effectively and may also affect sideward drag and weather helm.  I say this since you emphasised the intention to get good performance upwind.  I know its a little late in the day now, but the photos of the complete boat give a much better picture when compared the the 3d models.  I don’t profess to be any sort of expert in the field of boat design but its just something I thought you may not have considered or could study if you decide to develop the design further after testing.

I see your point about maybe making the gap wider but that would probably effect buoyancy and require a longer hull or wider beam, thus increasing the weight (for those who are weight conscious!).

Erm, well tasars can have a carbon mast and the boom and foils are super light weight.

66kg hull weight minimum

The class website states -" Present Tasar total 140 rigged hull + 55lbs all else = 195lbs total"

195lbs = 88.45kg RIGGED

Please get your facts straight before coming on here and d*icking about.

I know it's a bit of banter, but in my total clarity, I really can't understand how any of you can't see why this is might not be a good thing.
If anyone can now jump on something that will be pretty much the fastest thing on the water you can sail single handed sitting down, other than a Canoe which I'm told are not that easy..
And you can do it without looking an idiot or falling in the water all the time and that quite literally is anyone reading this old or young, how can that not be cool?

Had another bod there yesterday, forum type, quite impressed and both he and jamie were speculating as to what will eventually happen if ever it did 'endo' because it would have to be going so bloody quick.

The thing about making things easy, is that you can drive them harder.

What will I wear? Kitesurfing kit of course, boardies with a harness built in, impact vest, maybe a helmet if it's very windy, got some amazing new bike knee pads , neoprene with kevlar protection that retail for £39.99 compared with the sh*t you lot pay up to £70.oo for and give zero protection, y'all are eejiots ripped off left right and centre by a lot of sailing brands and given not a lot for it, when with a little out of the box thinking you get better for less and don't make yourself look silly by advertising the fact you've been had.

Exactly ... not much change from a 100kgs Wink and a lot more than Mr Tickel thought it was ...

If I had gone down this route then I would have steered towards a design far more like Andy patersons single hander being discussed last year. It looked the business and I'm sure it was a hiker with wide wings. Just the hull was more in line with logical thinking compared to the funboat/fireball/vortex hybrid...
