I am beginning to think that I dont care if it works or not, but really want to aplaud the effort to get it to where it is now.
Thanks for all of the updates and being willing to have the discussions (and field the derision) regarding your design decisions.
Be it dog slow, handle like a tanker or the best thing that has ever been designed or sailed (imposssible thats a 5oh), hurry up and get it wet already. I want the next installment

Indeed, very well done to getting this far.
I think the point with having a removable plug made would be to test your concept- try sailing with it plugged and without, and try to figure which is faster is a half-way scientific way.

Pluggin the gap wouldn't be a simple change though - you;'d add a huge amount of additional buoyancy which would mess lots of things up

Are you really going to launch V twin in the full glare of an interested world? Would it not be better to slink away to quiet creek and slip the vessel secretly into the water. I have a memory that has troubled me ever since childhood. A flickering black and white film where an intrepid early aviator stood on the parapet of the first level of the Eiffel Tower flapping bird like wings. He is surrounded by supporters and spectators (forumites) who enthusiastically encourage him to fly. He does.....well, he tries.....and falls like a stone to his death. Presumably he never tested his aeronautical theories by casting himself from a wardrobe. The image of this film, enthusiasm, invention and confidence which ends in futile death has always disturbed me. Stay off high places Mr Fuller and find a creek..........

Seamonkey, how can you tell how much something weighs just by looking at a couple of photos? Graeme is fully aware of the criticism over his design, but lets be honest isn't it brilliant that he actually has the balls to put his money where his mouth is! If it doesn't work, who cares. I for one really hope its a flying machine.

LOL because the rig, foils, sails, wings etc will weigh at LEAST 35kgs ... and with the surface area of that hull it has to be at least 40kgs ... I sort of admire his self-confidence to throw his money at his idea; but at the same time feel sad that no-one has helped him to do somthing that has a chance of being half good ... |
