No no no, everyone here loves enthusiasm...

Even if you were a D1 salesman, I'm sure you'd be welcome with open
arms.

But what no-one likes is apparent deception

And that

"I cancelled my deposit post"

Sorry it just sends all the wrong messages..

Why did you cancel?

What do you know that we don't, lots of us here are just genuine punters
with deposits in place, myself included.

Exactly what did that wonderboat manage to do to get you into a time
machine to back date your order to the 21st when you tried it only this
weekend just gone?

I dont understand what you mean...

I tried it on Sunday 20th Sept and bought one there....

what's the problem?

I am like you...an ordinary guy who has made a decision based on my thoughts having seen what I have seen.

I am not a D1 Salesman I am just enthusiastic about it, I mistakenly thought that you may like to know about my findings....

I have been doing a lot of research and not found too much to answer my questions I had, so I thought I would do something about it.

Although I can see that you all have taken it the wrong way.

I do not work for anyone....bloody heck how can I prove that?

Tim

Hi Tim

congrats on your decision - I hope it is good for you.

was the size of the cockpit / space under the boom an issue for you at all?  I ask becasue the perception is that the D1 is for the bigger, heavier guys such as yourself.

was your decision also partly because you didn't want to wait until next year for the 100, when you could get a D1 almost immediately?

if you were fully hiked in a force 2 you must be pretty confident in the ability to depower the rig?

are you planning to car top the boat rather than trailing it?

anyway enjoy...

As an observer in this debate I would suggest that maybe Tims height and weight may have had some influence on his choice.

It would be interesting to see a comparison chart of D1 v RS 100 with length, watrerline length, max beam, main size and kite size - and maybe even target weight range. Once RS have deciced on the sails maybe.

They both sound great fun boats to sail - and maybe as a result of them coming into the market I may soon be able to afford a second hand Vareo!

Tim, if you just tell people who you are and declare and connections, if any, with the product then I feel you should feel free to share the excitement you have about your new toy ... seems some here are determined to dampen your joy.

Tim: GRF is (for once) right- you do come across as an "astroturfing"* plant or even a creation born of a marketing department.

*Astroturfing: creating fake "grassroot" support by creating blogs, posting positive reviews etc through shill accounts. I think it's now illeagal in this country for marketers/publishers/distributors to post fake positive reviews on online stores.

Can't say I am too impressed with the"lively" critism, a more balanced approach might be a better way of posting without resorting to name calling, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions though.

An opinion you don't mind sharing though..

And the address of the distributor

And the dealer

Sorry chum you don't get off that lightly..

I live in internet pimp world and trust me, at the end of the day
honesty is the best policy, ....

Just admit your trade connection and be done with it.

No one goes

"Oh I've bought a new boat I must just set up this blog.."

Not without financial reward they don't..

Now I may be totally wrong here

And if I am I'll be the first to prostrate myself before you in abject
apology.. but right now - I smell pimp.

So wonderful not only did you order the boat on the spot, but you set up a
blog, signed up to the Y&Y forum, posted your first ever post trying to
polarise an early prototype with a production boat... all from one quick sail
at Burghfield? My god, with the exchange rate collapsing on foreign
imports too and the questionable looks thrown into any buying decision, it
must be one hell of a nice boat to sail.

Come on James give the guy a break ... he's tried both and he's put his money where his mouth is.

Granted the RS100 will no doubt not have exactly the same rig when it appears in production but the difference will not be as great as there is between the 2 boats anyway.

I have always advocated that people should test sail; most test sails are short as a long term evaluation in a range of conditions will never be pratical but it is better than nothing.

How many have discounted the D1 without a test sail; most I suggest which is not really an informed way to do so ...
