Top scientists estimate that 0.001 watts of heat loss are averted for every square centimetre of beard.

Famous beardies in history have included Redbeard, Blackbeard and Bluebeard. How they got these exotic colours is unknown. The most common sights in Scottish sailling clubs are Tomatosoupbeard, Snotterbeard and Obscurebitofpastabeard.

I've tested this theory (admitedly not intentionally) and it depends on the quicksand. In some types you can just stay really still and then you won't sink.
I don't suffer from insanity...I enjoy every moment of it.

"Blinking temporarily switches off parts of your brain, according to a study published in the latest issue of Current Biology. The University College London (UCL) team found that the brain actively shuts down parts of the visual system each time you blink, even if light is still entering the eyes. Their findings could explain why you donĄĶt notice your own blinks." (General Science newsletter - July 2005)

Davina Bristow of the UCL Institute of Neurology says: Ą§Blinking is necessary to keep the surfaces of the eyes moist. Most people blink around 15 times a minute and a blink lasts on average 100-150 milliseconds, which means that overall we spend at least 9 days per year blinking."

So it follows women spend around double the time of men being awake but with their brains activity shut down...... a little over 9 days per year.

I suprised actually - I thought it would be more.

Consider this:It is estimated that the mental capacity of a 100-year old human with perfect memory could be represented by computer with 10 to the power of 15 bits (one petabit). At the current rate of computer chip development, that figure can be reached in about 35 years. However, that represents just memory capacity, not the extremely complex processes of thought creation and emotions.

An average adult male brain weighs 1375 gram (49oz). The brain of Russian novelist Turgenev, weighed 2021g (71oz), Bismarck's brain weighed 1807g (64oz), while that of famous French statesman Gambetta was only 1294g (46oz). Women's brains are slightly smaller than men's. The largest woman's brain recorded weighed 1742g (60oz). - I personally believe this is an ev olutionary adaptation to make the head lighter thus making nodding in frantic agreement with other female friends less tiring when they speak at length about 'what they said'.
