I moved to the most local club (15/20/35 minutes from home (bike light traffic/heavy traffic/car heavy traffic) and 5/10 minutes from work (bike)) because I found that I was much less likely to travel double the distance to a club with better launching space/bigger water unless the weather was perfect. Bonus is that the local club is friendlier with better atmosphere.

when I was at uni, it was 25 min on the metro in the morning to get to south shields SC from the middle of newcastle, fequired no brain power, physical effort or even any level of sobiety.  It was great.  Unfortunately those days are gone, now I'm at home (same town as scooby) so its half an hour or so to grafham.

Lol I travel prob max of 5 mins to club though it used to be 10 to my old club but we then switched. The new ones much better / friendlier. But I must say that I dont actualy sail at my club much and do many open meetings. most summers we would be at club about 5 times in summer so the maximum I would travel for a weekends sailing is from london to liverpool (northwards) and london weymouth (southerly)

I'm trying to persuade all the Cherub lot to go to Grafham this w/end! So keep an eye out for us. If we were to come, could you sign any of us in as visitors?

I was at grafham this weekend just gone (did look out for you scoob but I didn't see you), went for a bit of 2-boat sailing with one of the club boats.  Sailing on sunday was awesome, F4 all day and brilliant sunshine.  They set a square course in the morning, two great two sail reaches, won by nearly three min on corrected time .  Afternoon was just as windy, had a few of those moments where you just keep bearing off and bearing off and you wonder if the gust will ease before you get to the bottom of the run.  Probably be back up there sept 10/11th if anyone is about.

Sorry James, I missed the ponchos, I only started at Newcastle in 2001, but I guess that means you knew the likes of Mr.'s Sugden, Whyle & Cooper.
