As a Shearwater member during the vandalism mentioned above, you have my every sympathy.
We've repaired the slashed cover and tyres and Rondar repaired the two holes carefully drilled in our boat so we were lucky, but we don't leave boats at the club now after the clocks go back, as that's when trouble seems to start.

That's really sh*tty, I don't understand why people feel the need to do this kind of crap... I'm 15 and I wouldn't even think about vandalizing someone else's property...
A while ago the containers that housed our safety boats got set on fire, taking a load of optimists and other club boats with them. I think the safety boats were more or less okay, but it was still pretty awful.

I'm sorry to hear of this tickler, where is this club of yours, there must be some mindless t**ts nearby.

Obviously more than a couple, and some gang egging each other on.

It is such a shame, even in my warped book, that shouldn't happen.

Thank you GRF for your comments. Close to the fire an old wooden GP 14 was parked. It has not seen the water in many years. Why did they not choose that? We could have both rejoiced!

The reason why of course is that your modern vandal is lazy and chose the lighter boat, not like in my day...........

Fencing would be difficult and with the site being so private they would have all the time in the world to cut through it. We have no mains power so ccty is unavailable. We are buggered really unless someone knows of cordless cameras?

Sorry to hear and see this, terrible.

I'm intrigued though, if you don't have power do you use a generator or similar to power lights etc.. or do you tough it out?  Wireless CCTV cameras can be purchased but would still need to be connected to something that did require power to work (recorder, PC)..... I wouldn't dismiss fencing and a decent padlock either, back in the day at BLYM I can remember quite a few occassions where mindless vandalism or petty theft was committed on boats in the compound with holes in the fence while more valuable boats in the more secure compound where left untouched.

A good patch of brambles and/or nettles is a very organic deterent, even a hedge wouldn't hurt (you).
