plus the actual RYA book on the PY system says that it is a greater crime not to allow a boat to race as it has no PY.  which is what has clearly happened here, rather than not allow boats to compete wouldn't it be better to beforehand agree a handicap number then publish that in the racin rules?  this appears to be what happens for other events (the 24hour race being a good example of changing the handicaps)

No-one's going to argue that wouldn't be a good thing, but how on earth can it be achieved?

Pete - Couldn't agree more with your last comment.

Real shame about the results.  Didn't think that many had passed me!

Foiling Moths sailed of PY 840, not 800 (giving them a start time of '53mins', 2mins after I14s and 1 min after L5000s).

Unfortunately the results appear unreliable. It seems QM did not take account of many lapped boats so there are quite a few a long way higher than they should have been. Apart from that QM did a fantastic job running the event.

Regarding non PY listed boats being ineligible; It was in the NOR since it was published a couple of months ago so we all new the score and it makes sense as the fairest way they can operate, the issue is more with with the PY system needing to be more dynamic in the production and revision of reliable numbers. QM make an exception allowing 'grandfatherered' rights for 'A Raters' due to long term historical links - it's their event so they can do what they like, fair play.

Win or loose it was a champagn day - a blue sky break in the storms of Fri & Sunday. The only losers were those not there to witness the spectacle!
