Sounds useful for when my 3mm becomes insufficient. What make is it? (Long Johns seem usually to be 3mm)

When sailing lasers and I could never get away with a drysuit but I got a henri Lloyd gore tex one last year for helming in the i14. And now I could not do with out it, it is an amazing bit of kit.

It is just a shame my flat mate burnt the house down a few weeks ago and it was inside along with all my other sailing kit

In RS 600 at Grafham. Long John wet suit with 5mm legs and 3 mm around chest as base all year except in light winds warm summer days. Need the leg padding.

As it gets colder I add thermal vest then thick woolly jumper under spray top until it is really cold when I switch to a dry top instead of the spray top.

In winter on feet: woolly socks under neoprene wet socks, in neoprene wet boots.

On hands when cold: O'neill neoprene gloves inside thick household washing up gloves (marvellous grip, too much in fact).

Sail at Grafham all winter all weathers.Always comfortably warm.

Not many people do plan to get wet
Agreed though, summer long wetsuit does me fine even when i've been in, with a fleece or thermals andwaterproofs over

I wore a shorty on Saturday at Weston and it was ok. Air temp was mild and the water doesn't really change much throughout the year. Would be in full steamer mode sailing at a resi though! They get cold fast!

Still going with a summer wetsuit, but with a Gul breathable dry top added,  over optionally a thermal vest and/or a fleece. Wet socks inside Typhoon neoprene dinghy boots.

So far, so good, but it's the hands that are suffering as usual - not helped by the otherwise perfect off-the-boom sheeting set-up that keeps your hands up in the air (draining the blood, I presume...)

Thinking about it, the reason I've not yet turned to the drysuit is that I don't want to risk the often-replaced, latex seals. If I buy another drysuit it will, like my dry top, have neoprene seals.
