Hey dinghysolutions, calm down! What have you had for breakfast? And seeing your posts, you should have called yourself dinghysolution, singular: the only solution to all questions is the FD (you're probably justified, I don't know cos I don't sail - and don't come and bite my head off - chill out!) I only wonder if this topic is here to exchange points of view on Olympic classes or relentlessly plug your favorite boat!! |

Dinghy Solutions, While I really admire you energy I must question why you are put such a tremedous effort into the FD sailing when at the end of the day there is no Olympic Medal to be had? Also training in the Gym at 5:00am is unlikely to be the most effective time but perhaps there are other considerations... |

medals are not so important. Challenge and learning, as well as having some fun and yes winning is all part of it. I think that the OC boats are mainly youth driven or $$$ driven and in looking at the boats I think that the probably should be a total shake up of thre whole oc and formate. In door windsurfing, 18ft skiffs, AC boats and that it.It need to be TV friendly. Sure in it current formate I do feel that the 470 is not allowing a solid mix of type of person to get involved. Sure Stars are awsome racing and that is directly because of OC. Once the FD was out of the oc they class was much happier. So I guess there are many differnt things regarding whish boat et c etc |

You've got to admire someone who has so much dedication to their class. However I submit the statement is incorrect for most generally held dictionary definitions of words/phrases only, real and racing dinghy. However if you define racing dinghy as "Flying 15 which has lost its keel" which might be rgarded as a somewhat contentious definition, then the FD is clearly in there with a shout:-) |

Quite impressive in straight lines but incredibly slow tacking & gybing. The 49er stuff is much more dynamic and more appealing to the media; and they tip over frequently - the public like to watch crashes. Rick |

I was watching the 49ers and was surprised how slowly they tacked. If you look at the techniques used by the 9ers and the T's they are similar, just the T's have a foot more walking to do
