Audi A3 vs VW Golf... except in local motorsport, both would be on the same grid without a time penalty and sense of frustration. Oddly enough, in non-sporting terms, both have actually increased their value proposition too, enough to bloom cheaper alternatives with the Seat Leon and Skoda Fabia..... but why would dinghydom look to other markets for a source of inspiration? They're better off not telling potential punters how much each will cost- no doubt to protect themselves from a willy waiving across Ally Pally.

I reckon the RS will be about £2000 cheaper than the D-Zero. The Vareo is £5790 so surely the Aero will be cheaper than that?

what worries me more is the expectation that people will place an order simply on seeing the boat. I would be wanting a test sail first at the very least.

Well I am jolly happy that some are prepared to dive into new classes as they are all just toys really. Having bought a couple of boats on that basis, I would be holding back a bit.
I am after some neoprene, but interns of committing to a ship I would only be in the market for something thats been around for say 5 years or so

I'm not after any neoprene, if I was I wouldn't be looking at the mouse mats and beer can coolers they cut up for dinghy wetsuits (Sandline graciously excluded). However on the other point I totally agree... but 5 years is leaving it a little long, 18 months has to be optimum.

is it using the o'neill technobutter? That's their fancy branding for yamamoto neoprene... it really is technically superior... just don't expect on your next set of [insert generic sailing company] hiking pants.
I've been windsurfing in a 4mm suit (not O'Neill, but similar material) with a polypro base layer all winter, not got too cold yet either.

Vanessa, here's how it works with us You pay a deposit of £250 for for a shiny new D-Zero at the nice Dinghy Show price and an early delivery, you get to test the boat, if you decide it's not for you you can cancel the order and get a full refund ![]() Just trying to get the thread back on topic folks
