Mike / Rupert the 100 is a semi soft sail. Its only the d-one that is fully battened.

It was the Vareo sail I was referring to, I think?

Silly question maybe, but if the 100 is such a good good boat why ditch it so early? Surely enjoyment is the main reason for sailing, not the residual value of the boat! Having had a D-One since day one(ish), mine's going after four years of blasting around because of the 'Old Age' factor Nick mentioned! It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it - end of story |

Hi Simon
Yes I know about the 100s rig having sailed one a few times (you have got to try /study everything if you do this stuff ...) and I'm sure you can do the same thing in survival conditons when gybing . The Blaze rig is a fair bit higher aspect and the rig is almost certainly a lot lighter but I've not weighted the one off a 100 yet. I still like my (proper) rigging wires as well personally ! Now I'm really off this thread ..... Mike L. |

Simple, I had to move for work so didn't want to be taking a boat with me. It was a change of circumstances rather than a calculated decision. |

Are you suggesting the new location might not have been suitable for sailing a 100?
I don't think Clive will agree with you. (irrespective of where it is

+1 for me, sailing in a gusty venue, dumping the main stops a lot of swims, I often tuck the main sheet tail into my ba so it's at hand, last resort; spiny halyard trip line or kicker dump

No, not at all. Just moving your whole life to a new part of the country is that little bit easier when you don't have to tow a boat, find somewhere to keep it, find people to race against... etc... I also don't have nearly as much free time anymore so sailing has taken a bit of a back seat.
