Sadly all the FFs at grafham are quite quick and the front
guys usually catch me up if I am sailing kiteless even though they are the start behind me! SO i can't be too harsh. Except to Chris and his special "coat". |

Thank you 'nurse'. Feeling much better now ! Do I have to put on that jacket
with the arm holes at the back ?! "Flying Fifteen" - now that is a misnamed boat if ever there was one - anyone know the number for Trade Descriptions Police ? |

Now calm down chris, you shouldn't be getting so excited at your age. Do you want a nice cup of tea and biscuit?
Someone will be along soon to trade your new Rs for a flying fifteen |

Is this allowed - all these studenty types getting new boats ? I am sure I read
in the promotional small print that at least for the first three years (due to lack of any 2nd hand boats at affordable prices) there would definately be no students (far too much free time to practice) and pretty much the age demographic would be 50+ . At 48 this really appealed to me !! Whats gone wrong ?! Update - actually just noted that laser193713 is the one now just posted his full details. Ok one token student is allowed - but only 1 ! Its not just restricted waters that have put me off, i have pretty much decided that skiff sailing isnt for me. I am more into tactical racing than out and out speed. I also quite like being able to stay dry when learning to sail a boat, particularly in England! Add to that the fact that I would be looking at a second hand musto rather than a new one, I just quite like the idea of a new boat with no need for fiddly and expensive jobs to do all the time. The 100 just seems to have a lot more going for it than a musto in terms of sailable life too. Without a forestay i expect the kites to last twice as long. Foils should last longer especially with river sailing. At 18 years of age a hiking boat isnt particularly tiring, especially after years of laser sailing. In fact the 100 will be comparatively easy on the legs as I wont have to hike flat like in the laser. The mast is also able to fit inside the cover so no more varnishing that every couple of years. Not an expensive job but it all adds up! |

Just to put the thread fully back on track, Name: David Thomas Club: Warsash, or Plymouth Uni during term time Previous Classes: Oppies, Lasers (all rigs), RS700, plenty of keelboats, team racing mainly in fireflys Rig: The big one! Height and weight: 6 foot 2 and 80kg Expectations: More comfortable than laser, more suitable for restricted waters such as the river at warsash, well rounded peformance in all winds. Oh and of course the usual RS Social scene.
