Several at our club, and our junior group has just ordered a load. Loads at holiday companies, too. Hadn't twigged it was his, though it makes sense.

Ian, you refer to loads of great designs still selling well, which are they all?

Merlin, RS400, RS200 seem to be selling fairly well this year.
Solo and Phantom seem to be too.
Not saying other aren't just not aware.
Considering that everybody is (or should be) a bit worried about their job, a lot of people are managing to trade up to a new boat.
It will be interesting to see the classes guide this year.

Actually that Cuba thing is OK. We have one at our club and once you get over the rotomould prejudice it seems a reasonable boat with the big rig up......especially off 1250 or something!

Isn't the 100 just a Qba hull with more flare and made from grp?

Hi Mike

Well to my knowledge he has created the RS100, K1 and Q'ba recently...and you dont have to go back that far to find the Tera and Feva.

So ok perhaps you can thank RS for some of this success but the K1 came to my attention because it is such a unique boat filling a gap in the market that I suspect most of us didn't realise existed. And yet with a comparatively small builder, limited marketing, and launched in the middle of a global recession they are still selling enough to get a reasonable number to a first ever nationals!

And lets not forget that the 100 hit the water after the D1 yet in the UK at least its clearly the bigger seller.

Hi Peaky

I suspect you got that from the piece I wrote about the development of the 100 and although its true the CAD model started life as a Q'ba it went through so many revisions I doubt any of the original model remained. (he only started with it as it was a chinned hull of a similar size so provided a good basis upon which to build)

Ah, thanks Ian. Makes sense to start from a similarish baseline hull.

Same old basic concept:
One Pointy End and one Blunt End.

You could stretch and distort almost any modern hull into almost any other by that sort of logic, given a good CAD wizard.

The Q'ba seems to have happy customers, that takes it a long way towards being a good boat.
