It is usual for club racing to be free after the membership fees have been paid & as you say events & Regatta`s to be extra, usually clubs regatta`s are free for members & a daily fee for vistors.
As far as I understand things, that should be the norm & is the way I have found things in the past.
hope that helps.

So Nigel, Where are you planing to go ? Isle of Sheppy Race? Wink

Mind you if I was asked to pay extra for racing at my normal club I would start to look at the value for money aspest & I might think about sailing else where.
However if I didn`t want to race & just cruise about then less people about on the weekend might be a good thing.

Is this something that Alton water is proposing or just a musing ?.

At Roadford we don't charge for normal series/racing - that's included in the membership. I used to sail at Wimbleball and they did (£1 per day I think + annual membership)...BUT at Wimbleball there were prizes for the top 3 after every 2 weekend series (bottle of wine, etc) and at Roadford just a prize for the series winner at the annual prize giving.

I prefer the no extra charge approach, but at least you could see where the money was going...not sure it encouraged the back end of the fleet to enter the races though, always paying but never getting anything back.

Hi all,

Once you've paid your club membership and paid for a storage slot do you pay an additional fee for your regular club racing ? (and if so, how much ?)

I've done most of my sailing at one location so I've not really got anything to compare against. I can quite understand that Opens / Regattas etc require an entry fee to cover prizes and extra staff/extra safety cover but what about your normal weekly race series'

Thanks in advance,

Nigel
