adopting double summertime would mean that we would already (in February) be on what we now call sumertime. I don't think anyone is suggesting we adjust the clock by two hours each time.

Don't think that would help anything. More importantly is why do we wait 'til the end of March to put the clocks forward. Should do it this weekend. It's light enough now.

did someone mention double portions....mmm yes please. Warm summer evenings
A lot of the evidence produced years ago in support of moving time around was based on road traffic accident figures, apparently much of it was trumped up.

Absolutely. I've done a lot of consultancy work for Ford over the years. They seem to manage OK talking to their German, Spanish and American counterparts. |

About time too.
This stupid piece of time management costs British business huge amounts of money each year due to not being able to speak with the correct people at the appropriate time. Don't think for one minute that it is only an hour a day that we are out of communication with the rest of Europe either. My company (Spanish owned) is out of communication with each other for 3 hours per day - one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one for lunch.
Synchronous days are an important part of modern business life and that is the reason why we should adopt it - a nice upside is that it is lighter at night.

Couldn't face going to / from college in the dark?!?!?!?
I hate to break the news to you, but the next 40odd years of going to work might be a harsh suprise unless you pick a career to suit!
I'm all for a bit of double summertime. My love of long summer evenings far outweighs my complaints at dark mornings in the winter. The time I'm usually up - its dark anyway!!

bad call I think, I couldn't face collage if it was still dark. And still get back in the dark. In regards to evening racing a fair few people like their evening races to be a slightly more warm affair in regards to water/air temp. Which the changes would not effect.
