i'll be there in the 600 so hoping for suffient breeze to be fully powered up (make a change from the last few months when i have been out) - don't care if there is plenty of running if the breeze is balistic.

Heathrow airport is predicted to have +7 degrees by wednesday the 29th so I figure that the QM will be un frozern by the 8th & the Grafham area is predicted to have +6 by wednesday the 29th so I figure the GGP is a goer as well for the 2rd. The netweather link well give you up to a 16 day forecast but is`t particuly accurate that far in the furture but will give you a idea. |

Is the K1 allowed to race?
I think QMSC had said no due to it having a keel and thinking it needed keel boat type launching facilities (a crane!). But of course it's just a dinghy with a bit of lead on the bottom and launches in the same way as any other dinghy... Any news? |

I would ask Queen Mary Blackie. As i understand it they are not allowed to race, not sure why.
I have cut this from the NOR on the sailracer online entry website "3.2 The race is also open to keelboats of accepted QMSC classes (Int. 2.4 m, Int. Flying Fifteen, Int. Sonar, RS K6 and Yeoman/Kinsman) that are either owned by a QMSC member or will be helmed in the race by a disabled member of a recognised Sailability Group. Eligible keelboats must be at QMSC and ready to be launched not later than 10:00 hours on the day of the race." By definition the K1 is a keel boat, although it seems a little harsh to not allow it.

In the chaos of the BM dinghy park and all the issues of the steep launching ramps I can understand why they wouldn't be happy at having something which is that much heavier than the rest. And ith all they have to pull together to organise the event the last thing they need is having to have discussions on "yes its a keelboat but you launch it like a dinghy...". Much easier to have a simple rule and stick to it. After all you launch a Flying 15 like a dinghy oo, its just the traielr is a bit taller.
