Sympathy from a fellow Byteist, it was an honour to race alongside it in its National winning race!
Really its a shame a small minority can really give (bet you its youths) a bad name! |

Very sorry to see that tickler. If you catch 'em, make the cowards do community boat service and listen to the consequences of what they've done... then string the b**tards up on piano wire... and I won't say which parts they should hang from...

That totally sucks! When my rig was stolen, from a byte c2, they not only stole the rig, but cut all of the control lines. But burning the boat... ... Totally agree with the above. |

Well thank you all for your support but oddly enough I feel sad rather than resentful. Noble Marine, having seen this posting, contacted me having looked up who I was, so the claim is in and I have contacted another forumite with a view to buying her boat. So let us hope that it all works out. Sailing people are the best people! Thank you.

Can't add anything more, really. I would call the perpetrators 'brain-dead morons' ....but that would assume that there was at least one brain involved that could actually be declared as dead. Best of luck with it all - from the Lightnings.

Sounds like there is an argument here for a more secure compound and maybe CCTV too. I did float this with the committee at my local club but was told it was not necessary and we have always been 'lucky' so far (aside from the out building that got burnt down a few years ago taking 5 or 6 boats with it).
Having said that the club does have a fenced and secured compound and is not easily visible from the road so the risk of random acts are very small.
It is sad very sad that people do this and I agree that they/their parents (if they are below the age of legal responsibility) should be held responsible and should be paying out!

Our club is quite concealed and a few miles from the nearest housing estate. We do have minor vandalism but usually in the summer. Why on a wet, cold night some yobs decided to walk a couple of miles and do that escapes me. Houses in the immediate vicinity are pretty expensive and are occupied by older families, like me, so not many kids about. Fencing would be difficult and with the site being so private they would have all the time in the world to cut through it. We have no mains power so ccty is unavailable. We are buggered really unless someone knows of cordless cameras?
