It'll be worth it KnightMare and in the grand scheme of things its only for a very short time. Meanwhile on the Medway the wind fell to nothing at times but mostly we had a 4 which was made fairly exciting by sailing a course which took us into some shallows. Some of the RS800 guys were livid and I have to say it was rather scary even in the 4000 when you hit a mud bank with the kite up.

Now listen very closely - in order to do well at exams it is important that you are able to enter the exam room in a calm and relaxed manner and to do this you have to have the opportunity to relive stress during the revision period in appropriate ways - denying yourself sailing in the name of revision is no good for you at all. Admit it, when you think you are revising but could be sailing, you actually get almost no revision done. You would be much better off getting on the water having a blast and then returning to your books feeling totally refreshed and focussed...

Now, that's what I call a GOOD EXCUSE! Is that the way you used to revise, Blobby? I used to sunbathe and kept falling asleep in the sun. Hmm, no so productive
![]() So go on, KnightMare, do it, go for a sail - if the weather's right, don't miss it - but don't stick around the bar for too long after sailing...

We had pretty much the same at Helensburgh. I couldn't beleive it when we were dumping everything on the 505 and still getting pulled over......... 50'hs are not supposed to do that |

You can see that horrible short chop that I hate so much in that picture!
Bigger waves are fine, no waves at all are fine. That is horrible to sail upwind in (IMO) Nice on the reaches though if you can pick one of the bigger waves up! As for the revision I would agree that if your mind is definitely elsewhere there is not much point in trying to revise as the information will not go in.... However...sailing is a good way of doing say Physics revision...all that stuff about laminar flow and aerofoil effects...(ok so I am clutching at straws here....) Roll on the coming weekend, the forecast looks good and (for those who are local) it's our Laser open (see http://www.huntssc.org.uk for details....) Paul |

Had one squall come through on saturday, decided sailing into 30 odd knots of hail was just plain painful so bore off, and two sail reached somewhere near the right direction. Both of us flat-hiking off the back corner of the wing, sails ragging and the boat was leaping off wave crests, wish i'd had a gps for that one!!

Had my GPS on boared on Sunday. 21.7 MPH was the max I got but I was taking it VERY easy as it was soo windy. I'd get you would probably get best speeds in a little less wind.
