Also, one of the blog topics mentioned funding for RYA squads coming from Lottery money, RYA members and the taxpayer.

Does anyone here know if any of the money really comes from the taxpayer?

I can't believe a guy as obviously intelligent enough to produce a blog
such as that would be so silly as to rant about forums..

I really don't think dinghy world fully understands forums, what they are,
why they are so valuable from a marketing and trend perspective and how
seriously damaging to your commercial health falling out with them can
be.

Interesting that a couple of the shall we say 'less beneficiary of forum
opinion' craft feature on his leader board so maybe his own opinion has
been warped by those protagonists.

It really is simple, produce a product some people don't like, you
generally alter or better explain the product, it's features, and benefits
and/or pricing, you don't take that opinion head on and make yourself
look all the more ridiculous arguing what is already a lost cause.

That also goes for bloggists.

Enter a forum tell everyone they're idiots, then expect them to read or
respond to your blog?

Surely the great danger is that if he writes something interesting, people will discuss it here on Y&Y where it can be discussed without time delay and moderation?

Also seems a bit unsporting to be setting up his own forum when his mag have one of their own (albeit, never used and extremely poorly presented).

I hate to do so but I agree with GRF. This is the most heavily moderated forum I visit too.

I can't imagine how you could moderate a forum more than this without it ceasing to be a forum and becoming a list of statements that moderators agree with.
