Giggs? - not a huge fan of the round balled game - let me think about it if the Merlot wears off.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

No mention of Haye?! Heavyweight champ is a pretty good
title, but then so is Formula one world champ, and of
course winning the ashes as captain and lead batsman too.
Not convinced with Giggs, Ennis too was very good.

Giggs did have the good grace to seem pretty unconvinced- I've got a lot of respect for him, he is playing ver well at what is a late stage in his career, but I can't see what specifically he'd done in the last year to merit the award. I think he thought he was just there as a "token footballer" too.

Sums it up really ... this should be voted for by an internal experienced panel not the public, it simply makes it a popularity contest not who has committed to their sport the most.

I shudder to think what next year's show will be like - it seemed to me to have gone completely 'over-the-top' this year and was curiously flat as a result. It has changed from the fun celebratory event it used to be to a cross between a pop-concert and a Billy Graham meeting! Still next year they could get even more people in by getting rid of the seats - the 11000 there spent most of the evening on their feet at the slightest opportunity in standing ovations!
