mainland uk is north. we have a south island in the british isles, its called the isle of wight and it probably has the largest gathering of top sailors.

As a southerner dragged kicking and screaming oop North by the missus I think I have something to add to the debate:-

Bit like france? sounds unlikely but the sentiment is true

Women? seem quite nice but why must they be painted that funny colour

Food? hmm large portions is the kindest we can be

Beer? wot no flake?

at least I'm far enough north that they play proper Rugby.

TT all positives for the East.

You are wholly correct on Adnams - Southwold is pub-crawl heaven. Have you tried the new Carbon Neutral beer? Wonderful. It may be carbon neutral going in....

I recall a sign-on a desk in Suffolk saying "You won't hurry me - I'm from Suffolk". Suffolk is a bit posh though.

It's not the food that's lumpy up North - its the landscape.

Scotland is not up North - its abroad.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Wales is North enough..
