The rs 900 with its bigger sails and lighter hull would make such a great boat for this sector. Come on Nick please take the wings off or leave the racks on and let normalsize guys sail this great boat, I dont want to sail a 49er as the weight lilit is too low and a fourteen is just a money pit So a one design rs900 that can carry weight would be awesme and i would buy asap

Could always cut down the overall crew weight matey Wink

But yea unfortunately a lot of the higher performance boats have a pretty tight 'competitive' weight band and it is harder for the bigger guys to stay quick.

Back on topic I'd love to see what this boat can do on the water, an 800 is already very quick, especially when the breeze is up so undoubtedly this 900 will be very entertaining to watch and sail.

What sort of sail area are you guys looking at for the 900 atm?

I think the RS boats offer an incredibly high level of performance for your pound and in terms of quality. I haven't had many issues myself, and these were all dealt with quickly and efficiently.  You always have to bear in mind that even at the volumes RS put out, you are still effectively buying a hand made product with all the pro's and con's that come with this.  It's the customer service which really makes the difference in this market.

BBSCFaithfull love to know what 'lots' means in your definition and put it in context. I have had plenty of RS boats and only minor issues all of which get sorted very quickly. When I call RS I get a decent response. I only wish I could say the same about some others. I don't know the figures, but a wonder round any dinghy club would show that the majority of new racing dinghies must be coming from RS these days. No matter hard they try there will always be the odd issue, but the key is what percentage that is overall and importantly how they deal with it. From what I have seen over the last 20 years RS have been exceptional in this area.

I have not heard of any problems with RS boats, especially no more than any other boat builder. I think that all boat builders at some point or any other have a few issues but its how they sort it out that really matters.

900 looks great, just make sure Frances is slower than james in the 49er and it will be fine, we don't want these girls going faster than us!

Ah, of course. That makes sense. Smile
