*waves hand* bit different, but I play the recorder to diploma level, mainly baroque stuff but modern when i have to, the harp to grade 6, and I pretend to play the guitar.. badly.  This folk mixture (recorder/harp) got me interested in folk metal, it's surprising how well guitars fit with violins/recorders etc! Have a listen to any of the Finnish metal bands such as Turisas, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Finntroll, they take a lto of influences from the folk music of the area and it's a brillliant mix:) *stands back to take abuse about silly music...*

Although there has been an addition since that picture, there's now a micro q-tron on the satellite board...

I'm usually playing strait in through a 3m cable for some seriouse raw, crunchy, Pete Townshend style rythem tone. I have a few effects but I rarely use them:

MXR Phase 90,

Standard Cry Baby,

Rocktron Virtigo,

Danelectro PB&J delay (want to replace with the MXR Carbon Copy ),

and a couple more kicking around on the bedroom floor...

Your board is mad! Is there not some serious treble loss through all that cable?

The Orange is very dark in its texture and combined with an solid mahogany guitar, treble loss is fairly noticable.

You are playing with a Tele though, and I can't think of  a tele player who was ever lost in the mix. They just cut through like nothing else out there.

Speaking as someone who once arranged the verse part* of "Freebird" as a m/f call response type duette with concertina backing you won't get any abuse from me...

*The instrumental coda, on the other hand, got the full electric works...

Treble loss isn't a great problem. The signal is well buffered, and if all else fails I can bypass most of the pedals as there are two loops going into the Boss L-2 on the main board.

I started playing the guitar when I was seven - almost 30 years ago. Played in several metal bands but the best was a rock'n' roll band where we supported the likes of Alan Price and Mick Avory. I also played a few low key classical concerts too. Although I prefer the classical/Spanish element of the guitar a lot more I hated performing that side since it is technically demanding enough without the added pressure of solo performance. I got a bit lost on the music front when my aged music teacher of 20 years (who by that time became a bit more of a music coach) passed away back in 1998. And I struggled to find any direction so I hung up my strings. I eventually found a great teacher who was willing not to teach but just to coach on technique every few weeks. He go me into jazz and his input got me playing some of my favourite piece which I thought I would never achieve. So I dabbled very lightly in jazz styles and now when ever I pick up a guitar I automatically fall into that style. However, with family commitments like many things it's on the back burner now. Perhaps I should start growing those fingers nails again……..

I blast away on a harmonica from time to time, Dylan, Springsteen and the like. Unique interpretations my wife says .... Any good singers amongst us? the voice, underated and not appreciated (by some) as a musical instrument.

Play trumpet and cornet, mainly with brass bands, can step in on soprano, flugel, or euphonium if required.

Play a little piano, but not brilliant. Been playing with bands since I was 10.
