Guy Lewington, wasn't it? They went on to win that, and most of the other big pursuit races that year. Actually, I do also remember having a coating of ice on my sailing gear for the whole race, and having to wait for the jib sheets to unfreeze before the jib would tack- it was quite breezy, and I thought we'd capsize every time. If we had, I was sure I wouldn't live . I've never done the race again

I think I was there that year - in a GP14. - sheets would not bend, impossible to get warm - I may have some pictures somewhere (on paper!). I think we packed in because of frozen gear not working and it becoming dodgy to sail the boat. I've also never done the race since.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Its definately a image that fits most cherubs, flying through a tiny gap between boats with more of the hull out of the water than in with the sailors grinning like a cheshire cat.

Adds - I was certainly told last year that Mirrors can race off a Topper's PY, I intend to do so this year.  The whole point of a pursuit race is that it makes it possible for any sort of boat to win due to the time delays.  To be honest the Mirror handicap I think may be quite generous as I've often beaten Toppers on the water: there must be a reason why we're allowed to start with them!

And for your information, one year a Mirror won the Bloody Mary.  End Of Rant.

Get yer enytry in quick for the Tiger. Have you got transport, or should we talk nicely to a certain iso calss chairman about borrowing the double stacker that lives in the KG boat park? Assuming, that is, a certain commodore would allow his towbar to be used for such exploits.
