	I think when things are very close (like the 49ers in 2000 or Radials in 2008) it is the fairest way to make the call.

	Whats your view on this policy compared to ours? We used to have a similar system here & if memory serves, our "top" boats (based on consistent results) occasionally got knocked out. I guess one thing in its favour is that it's a pretty "transparent" process. Given the tendancy of American athletes to sue each other I guess this might be the "safest" way for the US authority to handle the selection. If they tried the RYA method I reckon someone in Shirley's position might have had them in court by now!
