In terms of 'Bangs for your Buck' I have to recommend a Fireball! I bought a composite Severn built in '91 for peanuts (less than I sold the prev boat for!) Its rock solid for a 16 year old boat & she's shown the Winders the way around the track many times. They ain't cheap if you're buying new but s/h boats around 5 years old or so are great value.

But are we talking new or second hand!??

Second hand it would have to be my Boss that I bought with 2 suits of sails (inc big jib/mast head kite) carbon mast, boom, pole. Top cover and launching trolley. Cost me £280!

Faster than a penni and perfect for handicap racing, where the boat will still sail to its py across the wind range. Not the greatest boat ever but value for money, superb.

Brand new it would probably have to be the Hartley Laminates Kestrel. Think how much more you would have to pay at PnB for a scorp or similar.

A nicer topic than "most overpriced" me thinks.
Cherub? I heard you can have a new, competitive Cherub on the water, racing for around £7000
