I have sailed it a few times and it's an awesome boat! Its fast, responsive and alot of fun . Out of interest how many people have you spoke to that have sailed it  I'd say it easily sails as well as it looks cool.

An earlier post was regarding weight of the athletes, well apparently and according to the 29erxx web site 300 lbs seems the optimum or if you insist on using third world mexican, 136 kilos, so falling neatly into ISAF's range of 120 -140 kilos

Do those criteria necessarily discount the 470?
Mibbe a bit of shuffling around with the deck layout and a standardised mould or something....
Will be interesting to see what is at the evaluation event, sometimes weird and cool things turn up (Mader Mach 2 anyone...)

My best guess is that the plan is to put the 470 on the chopping block. The women get a new skiff class to become the xx side of the 49er. So the Men's 470 medal is the one eliminated.  Of course the 470 class isn't really on board with this and can be relied upon to fight back.

Can't see a womens class being one that drops the 11 medals to 10. They need to increase the % of women sailors in the games ...
