The question is, is it worth £900 when the boats were going for less than £2k new (if I can remember properly) and would you choose to sail one over other established classes such as the Laser radial, Europe, Byte, Moth or alternatively an MX-Ray if you could find one for sale?
Those ^^^

Ive sailed the 302 when it was a new concept (literally) it was been tested at salcombe must be nearly 10 yrs ago.  very poorly designed as hard to manovure (like sailing a cat!!!) bit of fun with kit up but thats it.  so I would give it a 2 out of 10.

I would take the 49er guys advice one of those, mx rays are much better (although are useless up wind) are a blast down wind.

Ive got one (mxray) sitting in the garden been sitting there for 3 yrs not mine but person who owns it I can't find or get in touch with.  Do you recon I can claim for my own yet?

I fell in love with this boat when I was 12 and a beginner Topper sailor. My dreams were shattered when I got to sail it at 14 years old at a Topper open.

Poor quality, poor performance.

Like the other people have said I would say that it was a poor attempt at a 'junior' MX Ray.
Looking for a 'Ball!

Don't know anything about this boat, but it has solved a mystery for me. There is one 'abandoned' in the dinghy park at our club an no-one knew what it was. Its all now become clear. I'll now go and try to find a bit more about it. Strange how these discussions lead off at all sorts of tangents.............

I always felt a Laser 4.7 with an assymmetric would make a good s/hander for lightweights, as while upwind it can be reasonably fast with a 55kg sailor, offwind it just lacks thrust.

Short mast, and only a small kite would be necessary, so structurally it could be OK, but it would be tricky to make everything (pole and chute) work smoothly (think of the b. awful Laser 2 'New Wave'). Keeping the string tidy could be tricky too.

yep i spose so.better start saving so what single handed boat with a kite that a 14 year old 60kg person could control without being over in a good f4.btw it wont be for racing as thats was the laser 2 is for.

Buy a laser 3000 and sail it single handed (Jib furled), the main is of a modest size so you wont be overpowered.  And for a singlehanded assymetric trapeze boat, they're going relatively cheap.  I seem to remember an advertisement for the laser 3000 being stated as sailable as both a doublehander AND a singlehander.
