Looks like a footloop. I think thats also what inspired Isis's comments about "Hope those decks arent for trapezing"

You can have a lot more fun in a 20ft dinghy than you can have in an 85 yacht ... especially when you want to go into depth-limited waters that the yacht would run aground in.

Also .. its a bit of fun. If you have the money for a 85ft Yacht .. a racing dinghy is small change to you!

In front of the mast?

Very small stay base even if it is... probibly better off being unstayed which with the mast pot looks likey

The MXray was unstayed with a kite and the mast was kept im check purely by hauling in the main and relying on leach tension

Probably in a bag that they lay down the hull to one side of the mast.

It may still be under construction in that picture, and they are just testing bits and bobs?

Your right, that offset tube on the bow must be for the anchor chain.

I don't think it can be an un-stayed mast because the pot isn't deep enough to support a mast without stays.

The bits on the back are cleats. The wings are too thin section to trapeze off.

It's most likely a one-off, designed and built by the yacht builder, using offcuts. Seems like a bit of a gimmick.
