wow, there a 16ft skiff, that elousive! never heard off that, how many people sail that?

anyone know if the measurement is from the aft to the front of the bow sprit or from the aft to nose?

The 16 is the most numerous of the real (lets not get into that argument) skiff classes. Its a three hander, two on the wire. They have multiple rigs, two masts I believe, and at the moment are pretty much a one design hull but more freedom in the rigs, but a max size limit.

Yep, its tiny compared to the 16. However for me that's a good thing. I'd rather have a small light and moderately rigged boat than a big heavier one with huge rags - 18footers for instance have zero appeal to me. Plenty of folk disagree with me, we're all different.

fair point, but the increase in rag area is reflected by the optimum weight for the boats being huge
