I find that the boats with the most outrageous poiting abilities are the ones with jibs - Nat 12 and Int Canoe for starters. Single sails are better off the wind, but a decent jib set up adds loads of efficiency upwind...

jibs mean less pointing going upwind so its an advantage not to have one!

So i can expect your moth to have a 5m mainsail and a 3 m jib and it will be quicker than a normal 8m sail???...

Do you really believe that?

the PY for a pico with a jib is slower than for single sail ( but I spose there's 2 people )

Point being that I would expect any high performance boat to be doing its stuff in a force three, yup twice wind speed is cool !!!!

Did you read that the right way.

14.3knts boat speed in 7.5 knts of breeze. in other words twice
wind speed.
