Yes, don't see why not, they have a one of these on either side near where you sit, that the rope that pulls the centreboard back is routed through, so two knob ends should do it..

You got it In all seriousness I didn't find adjusting the board a problem on any of the occasions I have sailed a Solution. The key, as has already been said, is getting the board packed correctly so there is enough friction that it does not pop up on it's own when there is no load but not so much that you struggle to adjust it. The other option might be something similar to the arrangement I had on my Blaze. I bit of fairly beefy shockcord to act as a downhaul and then an uphaul rope that can be cleated. As I said above not really required if you get the board packed correctly.

So, did you go from a Solution to the Blaze or vice versa, and what distressed you most about the Solution that you sold it?

I've seen a few over the years- they look seriously nice racing boats- a healthy blend of classic good looks with a some modern interpretation.
But the guys who had them moaned about the handicap.... anyway, still nice boats, and I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying sailing it.

Never owned a Solution but had plenty of goes in the 3 that were at Hunts. Only 1 maybe 2 there now though. I liked it to a point but it was not the boat it was made out to be (IMO).

Ha, give me the name of the boat that is.. Having said that, there doesn't appear to be any hype surrounding it at all, quite the contrary, I'm struggling to find a reason it failed, other than that of course, lack of hype. Which goes to prove as much as y'all profess to hate the hype and bollox, y'all are definite victims of it and love it really.

It looks a perfectly nice boat; a bit of a modern day Solo. I have seen them capsized on their side and the centreboard is pretty high above the water making recovery for helms difficult. |

Fundamentally it failed for me because when I looked at it, it was clear the people building it were only likely to sell a few a year so it would never reach a critical mass: I always liked the look of it and would have liked to have bought one but the combination of a lack of marketing power from the original builders combined with a lack of build capacity meant that if you bought one you would race in a handicap fleet and when you came to sell it there wouldn't be enough of a market to get a decent return on your investment. Sadly that proved to be true (at least relative to when I looked into buying one) I do think they are nice boats and there is a place for them but it shows really why people buy RS not solution etc. One of my club mates was looking at getting one and I remember telling him they could not build more than 20 a year so in 5 years there would still only be 100 in the whole country and they would be widely spread. In the end he test sailed one but couldn't cope after a capsize- he's had a Solo for the past 5 (?) years and hasn't looked back, but I still like the look of them for myself!

In that crowded single hander market sailors need to be persuaded that a particular product is the boat for them. Why select a Solution above others?
At least Byte has a target customer, light,female,young, and the Youth Olympic marketing tag. That makes them distinctive at least. Even with all this it is difficult to encourage boats onto the water for championships. Hartley are building boats at a steady rate and still selling them at a ludicrously cheap price in order to gain critical mass. Where is there for the Solution to go? We now have the Zero/Aero mopping up those mid range sales.

Good question - I would have thought it would appeal to the more sit in, rather than sit on, market. I guess it's biggest question is why would you buy one of these over the Streaker and the Solo?
