OK come away from my status quo and its builder gerrymandering the GL series, someone explain how the OK has suffered so. Go and check their forum good sailors who know their boat used to sail well against known older classes, now can't because of all these recent shenanigans.

Just briefly back to the vk3. I have spoken to Jeff Vanderborght about many boats over the years and what he was trying to do with the v3k was to create a new class based on an existing dead class mould (basically anyway) and create something that was far better than the original. As mm has said never quite worked out as wanted. However it must be said that at no point, ever, did Jeff try to create a ringer.

He never did either with the phantom for your benefit kw. There he took a boat that was out of date, saw its potential and made it plastic and therefore more desirable. The fact that the original ones never even got close to minimum weight meant the py never dropped. He then saw a way of meeting the original ruleset with the introduction of epoxy. No rules even slightly bent. No lipstick applied either.

Jeff Vanderborght is one of the most honest guys I have ever had the pleasure to meet and I think that the aspertions you have cast about on this thread are doing the guy an injustice. Perhaps think before typing, not everything in this sport of ours is a conspiracy.
