I went to the Dutch Contender Nationals and had a great time.  Nine long races in three days so I'm shattered (plus two midnight ferry trips) but I managed 13th out of 18, which isn't bad for an old woman like me.
the same, but different...

Wandered lonely as a cloud. Wondering would she show?

Old woman?

Check this out.

Vareo nationals for me had it all under control well thats what i thought till a broken main haylard in the first race on the last day so dsq for that one then second race got the wrong side of a big wind shift buried is the best way to describe it 25 ish came back through the fleet to seventh on two boat lenghts behind 5th and 6 th,last race went ok lying in third with a good gap went for the guy in second chased him all the way only to be passed at the last bouy by the guy who was in fourth who had a big gust all the way down.

So second it was by two points still quite pleased as it was very shifty and light sometimes

Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.

Where's the results for the Vareo's? They seem to have dried up after day one.

The forecast promised sun and force four, we got drizzle a 1-2 offshore
with occasional puffs and shifts.

The slow handicap was a bit depleted and the water once again littered
with containers, the infestation spreads, apparently our club used to be a
bit of a container stronghold back in the day, even hosted a nationals
one time.

An ancient Merlin also took to the water, the woodworm abandoning ship
as it launched, not only did young Pete risk his neck in it, but newly wed
he further put his neck on the block by taking his new bride afloat and a
bloody nuisance they were. We battled it out until eventually as is often
the case in light offshore conditions the rear of the fleet caught the front
up on one of the long slow and painful runs or reaches.

But it was fun, got to be quite close tactical beats with all three of us
exchanging the lead and lucky form me the fell for the last dummy I sold
before the final mark rounding.. Not enough to pinch it from the
Contender, but another useful 2nd.

Have fitted trap lines, well more twin chicken loops from kitesurf kite
bars, but they were too long to work so will have to try again in the week.

I got my weather window finally - 4mph elsewhere translated to 8-10 knots at Pennine SC so the 6 year old took to the water in an Oppy for the first time and did amazingly well. We started with reaching up and down off the beach and she soon progressed to sailing all over the lake more or less unaided. I think I know what to get her for Christmas....
