The press release suggests its still in build. I don't know, but some of the names involved suggest to me that it might be another Cherub derivative. If so that makes at least three!

Seriously, what are the odds of the 14 getting picked as a womens Olympic class?

Well its the only one of the bunch that "Must have the unquestioned ability to meet the requirements of International Class status within a reasonable time." which is one of the criteria (as it already is). I know you could argue that any boat selected for the 5 ring Circus will make that International Status, but if you say that then the requirement was pointless...

Was't there a requirement that the proposed boats are existing mass manufactured units as opposed to one off design outputs? Me thinks the race will be down to the wire between the 29erXX & the RS800 variant. Just my humble opinion without any offense intended for the I14 & Cherub class & sailors.

If one of the development class were to get the spot. Would the olympic class keep developing or stay under current rules?

As far as I'm aware, both of the Cherub variants are going to be one
designed (a'la Bladerider) for the purposes of the Olympics. Whether that
means they are no longer Cherubs is another topic which i think could be
quite fun...

When the 49er was selected the 14 was also in the trials.

I suspect that they use it as a benchmark class rather than a serious candidate.

As far as I know, the GT60 is inspired from the Cherub but designed from the Bieker 5.

I'm not really sure that any boat will be off the shelves before the trials. It has been a few monthes since they say the plug are close to the end ... they are still close to the end at the moment ...
