They have stopped making RS300 and George won the d0's because he is one of the better sailors in the country - he just happens to be a big lad (but not sure he is 95kg...not sure I want to really ask that). If you reckon that you can be an average club sailor and make a D0 go to handicap then I think you are bonkers!

The boat shown by Cirrus looked to me like it might carry a bigger person and be a slippery design - hence able to be of interest to me as a H2 sailor who at the moment has few choices.

And an RS300. And a 95kg sailor won the D-Zero Nationals last year.

Correct, and it wasnt exactly windy either (max gust was around 9 knots over the 3 days).

The 300 is still in build by the Boatyard at Beer and has come back under the auspices of the umbrella RS Class Association.

George had some very stiff competition at times at the nationals but was more consistent than his rivals plus the fleet at his home club is at a very high standard (so it is all relative at club level).

The D0 got screwed by the same mafia that took out the Icon and keeps the Blaze and Laser in bandit world, The RS300 should carry a health warning alongside the 200, 600 & 700. The D1 nice boat that it is, is a FatFinnBoys Barge, very powerful, The RS100 been there done that eventually managed to get back into it with the aid of a rescue boat the inshore and half the RNLI..it's another big boys barge. The Vario now do we really want to talk about the Vario going upwind, what else have we got to do with the rest of our lives?

While i've been doing this I've found what's required. We need a super light foil shaped cassette up the forestay that will act not unlike a small jib, within it we need a furled gennika made of cuben fibre, it's 50 gms per sq mtr so not as light as spinnaker cloth but lighter than normal jib cloth and it'll take a lot to rip or put holes in it. Should be capable of fitting to any boat you wish that carries a forestay.

I had a little gap in my sailing career due to kids and starting a business which probably coincided with the emergence of this mafia you mention - can you share more details?!?

He’s talking sh*te as usual - I don’t know one D-Zero sailor who grumbles about the handicap, frankly they don’t give a damn and are too busy waiting to race them properly - against other D-Zeros and Aeros over the line.

Yes you do, I'm a fully deposit paid D0 sailor that failed to complete the purchase after the mafia got involved and screwed it, most D0 sailors are like you, Class Victims who foolishly think sailing all together in the same class is best when it patently isn't

I wouldn't mind a go in a foiling Moth, but what I've seen of them, they don't go out in really light air. So they don't seem that great as an all-round option.Plus any pretence of a meaningful race against any other class is just nonsense, so all you get is speed unless you have other Moths to race.
And they are a lot of cash, OK if you are serious about it, but above what many are likely to want to spend.
