Took the 5000 out saturday nice and gusty had a capzise before the start sailed like a trooper doing the average laps in 7 mins umm big course i think not.

Sunday out in the vareo chased the 600 and 300 all the way round beating both across the water in the first race and about a minute behind the 600 in the second now that was a great weekend of sailing

Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.

I spent all weekend in a Radial to see if I could still sail one..... needless to say it was quite a sloppy performance on my part but then it was 6 years since I was last in one.  Horrible heavy lump of a boat, quite possibly the least responsive boat/rig ever designed.  However, the lure of big events and the ultra competitive nature of the class is taking a firm grasp on me.  I've done my speed sailing in all sorts of nippy creatures, and recently the Streaker has been beautiful boat to sail, far better than the laser ever will be, but I'm yearning for some punishment.

Been to prestwick this weekend. Saturday was RS300 class training followed by the scottish champs on the sunday. Both days over 20mph. Nice big waves to surf down. 2 EPIC days of sailing. Big grins all round when we came off the water!!
Managed to come 4th on the saturday which was pleasing considering everyone else was at least 15kg heavier. Big thanks to prestwick volunteers for putting us all up on the couches instead putting us in the rain and 30knots of wind, being friendly, welcoming and hosting a great weekend.

Out with my 12 year old lad in the Mirror. His first club race helming it. A
creditable 3rd. Even with going the wrong side of the mark and having to
undo himself and a bit a spinnaker pole malfunction on one leg.

So did you confound your critics at the club who said your success was all down to the Streaker PY, or merely confirm their suspicions?

Sadly there weren't many boats out.  However on the saturday it was fairly breezy and two of the full rig guys jumped into a radial to race against me and I pulled out a fairly beasty lead.  On sunday What fullrigs there were, I stayed with all the way round the course finishing just a few seconds behind on the line.  So far so good on that account but having been sailing for the whole week I was feeling extremely lethargic and generally struggling to keep going.  I expect this weekend when I'm feeling alive and fit, I may hear such comments as "well radials always have the advantage in these conditions" or "It was a complete lottery out there".

Decided to brush up on my standard rig skills rather than the 8.1 at the pursuit race weekend we had at Hunts. Managed a brace of 4ths followed by a win in the final race. Was well chuffed getting 3rd overall when it wasn't quite windy enough to pay in the standard rig. Just hope I have not peaked too early for the Open which is in 2 weeks!

Spent 4 hours on the water today solidly tacking and gybing in the
TANK.....sorry, Radial.    Light winds today so it was time well spent getting
smoother and smoother through the day.
It was a training session worth its wait in cocaine, with lots of niggles
worked out.
It was a bit of a lonely day out there all on my lonesome but then I needed
to be on my own to sort out my boat handling.
Tomorrow it's club racing, hopefully with more lasers out than last weekend.
Lets hope the extra time on the water today pays off some dividends in the
race.
