I think I'd also take a look at the Scorpion results for Race 1. Unless they did something like start on the wrong start it seems odd that all three boats of the same class that are in the top 15 overall all placed next to each other and virtually last in R1. Thoomas Gillard's Solo looks a bit odd in R1 too. Mind you there are quite a few results for race 1 which are wildly different to what the competitor scored in other races - was the breeze or course very different? Or were there a lot of late starters (and unwary late arrivals scoring a BFD too).

These sound like minor technical issues.
The f***wits in our race box today failed to write down any times for the 25+ strong handicap race and failed to notice the leading Cadet at all as they shortened. One way to get out of the responsibility I guess. Never again. I think we'll make their next club duty cleaning out the U-bends in the plumbing. Without gloves.

Brilliant stuff - thanks Chris
I figured it was probably a lap issue (5 for us in race 4) |

Yep come and see me, Jonathan is it? It may be a lap count issue again. I'll be in the upstairs office from about 9am tomorrow and we can get it sorted.

Hmmmm. Those results show us in 77th in the last race, yet we were only a few minutes behind (a cross the finish line) the leading 505 that came 11th..... Result quiery in the morning I think .... |

Jim,
Thanks for pointing those out. The 4th race topper result is a typo, I've missed out a colon in the finish time. Race 2, something is obviously wrong. I didn't take the lap count sheets home with me from the club so can't sort until the morning but I'm guessing I've typed the wrong number in that box too. Apologies for that, but taking times and keeping track of laps for 95 odd boats isn't easy. The OD's did a fantastic job in some testing conditions. If there's only a couple of errors I'm chuffed. Obviously I'd prefer there to be none, but that's a lot of numbers to get right in a short space of time. If anyone else spots anything let me know and I will check first thing in the morning. The results do say preliminary for a reason......

I like the Topper results... methinks they may need to sanity check those. Especially races 2 and 3. Race two it appears he won by 20 minutes on handicap - a truly remarkable achievement, whilst race three he doesn't appear to be due to finish until some time on Monday, so presumably Dr Who has taken some time off from his 50th anniversary celebrations to do a quick session taking results.

Well it took the boy an I a whe to get back in to the swing of thing, and finally sailed the boat properly in Race 4. Slightly dissapointed that we've been given a PY of 910, but that's just the way it goes I guess. Also a bit dissapointed that in race 1, a) I stuck the nose of the boat where it shouldn't have been (right in a not-big-enough gap at the Committee Boat and b) the bloke in the RS400 to leeward saw fit to ensure that he shoved me in the said committee boat, causing some significant damage to my boat. As I said at the time I knew I was in the wrong and would have done a penalty (and did), but I didn't need that damage.
Any know where results are posted? |
