D-Zero

Just read today's posts. Oh dear, what have I started now?!

Sometimes in the d one I will go in over the back because me coming over the side can be enough to pull the rig over on top of me.  This is NOT because I am overly large - and I am still fit enough to pull myself into a d one, no easy task, it is because the rig is light.  

Having followed the bickering and cat fights, from a safe distance it must be said , over the RS Aero and D-Zero on various threads on this forum I think that it’s time for me to throw in my halfpennyworth. My view is simple, I think that the market should be celebrating the introduction of two of the most innovative and exciting single handed dinghies to hit the water for a very long time. IMHO the last time anything so exciting in this sector was the launch of the Laser some 43 years ago. In my mind both the RS Aero and the D-Zero are great boats and will find their place in the market over the coming years with each having appeal to different sectors. For sure we can see that preferences differ for a variety of reasons but the chances are there for people to test sail both classes and make their own decisions which boat works best for them.
Along with our dedicated team and our customers I am passionate about sailing and, of course, the D-Zero but I am sure that the same goes for everyone associated with the RS Aero. I see people trying to prove that one is faster than the other but, personally, I don’t care. That was not the reason for bringing the D-Zero to market and I am sure that the same goes for the RS Aero.
I think that the time has come for people to respect others views and, for those who are unsure, to test sail both boats and decide for themselves. Also may be worth a visit to check out the relevant Facebook pages to understand the communities that are associated with each class. Both classes have been very hard hit with the Great Lakes PYs so don’t try to judge the boats on results in these events.   In the final analysis the boats are both deserving of a significant following, for what they are and for the company and camaraderie of the people who sail them.

Rather different.

Steady Steve, inserting facts into the forum is very dangerous. You know there are people on here that are only interested in winning an argument. Facts just get in the way.
