+1 Jimbo

It was a pleasure and actually helped as it didn't recleat on its own easily so the drops were A LOT easier.

Got one on our B14 and the same ... pop ... kite falls in the bag no snagging at all.
Would go as far to say with a good crew it's quicker than a chute kite

Yep here to, had one on the Alto since day 2. But the RS100 works better as
it's in full auto mode, our Alto one I fitted in a stupid place so you have to
activate it manually.

Yep as Al says just pull the rope upwards between the cleat and the uphaul block a little further aft and that pivots the cleat up and releases.

two ways to disengage a sppinlock- either pull "up" on the tail of the line, or push the top forward.

I'm a fan of them for kite halyards- first encountered them when my parents fitted one to their 2000, which made dropping more pleasent. I've sailed on a B14 with one on the halyard- no problems with recleating during the drop- though current mast has a cam cleat until I break it... Did have a spinlock for the tack line too, but that went soon after the boat was acquired as the position (middle of the floor) meant it was too easy to kick/stand on mid gybe- a bad thing!

I've heard tale of people using them for sheets, which seems mental

You pull from a block further aft and that pulls the spinlock cleat down and into lock mode. Same cleat as used on 200's.

And then the downhaul is pulled from a seperate block just aft of the chute. Pull the slack then trip the spinlock and pull down. Also being 2 patch the kite chute is much shorter so distance to pull is less.

Not yet had kite drop after hoisting.

How does that spin lock devicee work for the halyard?

How does it lock, I can't remember?

Have you ever had the kite drop down if not locked properly?

PS - the main out thing was due to the fact that I was getting so close to shore and I was preparing for a drop.

When I drop the 100 kite I let the main go out pretty much all the way then pull a bit of retirieval line then trip the halyard and pull the kite in the chute.

Last night I found it was so windy that I probably had the 100 main around half way in as it was more controllable and choking the kite may not have been a bad thing as it was honking. It made little difference to what felt like wrap speed if the main was in any further.

Cheers,

Keith.

No its definately possible in big waves with a big bear off. But I actually think burrying so far as to pitch pole would be blooming difficult and something would probably snap up top if it ever went that far????

Cheers,

Keith.
