Your average Joe sailing a Finn couldn't even think of pumping like that so they don't.  Only the elite Finn sailors go to those lengths and they spend a significant amount of time in the Gym in order to get the necessary strength and stamina.  Me?  I haven't been near a Gym for 30+ years and am sure if I did now I would leave in an ambulance.  I love my Finn sailing, as do many others all over the world, and most of us don't resort to the extremes that the Olympic guys have to.  Don't get me wrong, most of us are happy to race in 20+ knots.  I did the French Finn Nationals a couple of weeks ago with 60 boats competing and everyone had a fantastic time both on and off the water with no broken bodies, unless you count the effects of excessive alcohol  Wink

Returning after a 10 year break and thinking i want one of these. I am busy for the next month getting stuck in a field with the tractor but after that i will look to get one, i live near Sherborne so not a million miles away.

How much for a sensible complete set up, i've the prices at 10K which is way too much for me, more than likely half that.

Further more we just had our 50th World Champs, with 152 boats all in one start, there where 14 past world champions competing, Bjon Allansen the Swedish finn sailor who just missed out on going to the olympics, and Andre Budzin who just happens to be a 3 times finn world master champion, On top of this a man called Stefan Myralf was sailing who happened to win the volvo ocean race in 2008/09. So why not get your facts straight before you make yourself look like a total idiot, again! Furthermore I don't see many people getting involved on that V-twin thing!

Well, wether I'm not very clever, or a total idiot or not, I still feel very sorry for any man who thinks that floating around in that ancient flower tub is the best thing he's ever sailed, clearly doesn't get out much does he? That's my opinion, not a fact, fact is there are 10 million people who read the Sun every day and believe what is contained within, or are happy to believe it as long as she has big tits.. So after 50 years y'all have managed to persuade 152 of them that sailing what should be a really good garden ornament is a good idea, is a credit to your kind, each to his own I always say (then snigger quietly.) which makes for good controversial posting on internet forums. Wink

You know, I love you GRF, and thoroughly look forward to all your posts; the trolling, baiting and downright hilarious ones in particular.
 
I must say however, that on this one you're a little wrong, and while I do not want to be one of those that "rise to the bait", I've got to tell you that the OK is indeed a tremendous boat.  While I've not been a super-dooper champion in any class, I have in my time owned and raced Toppers, Minisails, Enterprises, Solos, Laser2s, Lasers, Int Moths, RS400s, L2Ks, RS600s, Spitfires and Hurricane.
 
Now I know you don't approve of may of the classes I've just mentioned but I've written them down to demonstrate the breadth of experience I have, and I have to tell you that the OK IS probably the best all-round boat I've ever owned (in terms of being technically challenging, physically demanding and ultimately rewarding).  It may not be the right boat for you in the long-term, but I'd thoroughly recommend you give one a try sometime - especially on that pond you use. Thumbs Up

Yes, yes, yes.....but they do look horrible! Now my Solo looks OK in a boatish sort of way and the cockpit allows me to run about a bit....tell GRF when sugesting he overcomes his aesthetic sensitivities and sails one that he will need a crash helmet to protect his delicate cranium.

Funny you should mention crash helmets tick, I've decided to make the wearing of one in any breezy conditions compulsory upon myself after the 2nd head bashing meted out by the EPS whilst, foccussed elsewhere.
Funny thing helmets and sport, I've always worn one on my offroad bike, wear one kiting since the promenade wall head incident (which induced the madness of forum bashing in search of lost vocab)would never consider one windsurfing despite being hit on the head with the mast once,but they are on offer, yet you never see mention of them for dinghy sailing, they're not offered by the trade or even talked about, you don't see the kids in Oppis given them, yet pretty much every other water sport with less likelihood of head banging has them as an option.

Getting back on Topic, well sort of, I wonder if the guy that named the OK realised what it stood for, = George Washington in the war of independence getting a report after each battle 0 K equalled 0 Killed. So I wonder if it did live up to its name, no-one died using it I guess, except maybe of boredom? Wink
