Hi Keith,

Not a 'politician' but I did end up in a coalition that gradually became more and more one sided - towards the 100 !

Like you - Too many boats, too little time !

My initial reaction to the 100 with the 10.2 rig was that it was mighty powerful and whilst it would fulfill my requirements as a good light to moderate air boat, I would struggle in any breeze. Over time, however, I have discovered that the rig has a huge tuning range and once you discover that the controls can be
pulled on REALLY hard the boat can easily cope with a lot of wind.

I just found I wasn't sailing the Vortex (still sailing the 49er with Chris T as well) and she deserved a better home where she would get a weekly thrashing ! Although i was sad to see her go I am pleased that Bala Dan has bought her and intends to race on the circuit.

The Vortex would have been awesome on the downwind of that final race and no problem gybing - would have welcomed the trapeze for that long beat home !

Cheers

Chris

Where have you been Mr Buddah? And anyway God didn't gift Phantom sailors the means to gybe them.

You neither I suppose....

Anyway that's cos we are all too fat to get across a boat without a hand from someone else, preferably with a forklift. I did use to sail a 300 so I reckon I could probably gybe one ok, but to be honest I'll never have the money to own a 100 in the near future so you'll just have to guess whether I can or not.

Hi Guys,

Fantastic weekend, brilliant boat, just loved it, and great that the fleet is friendly.

Just a a couple of suggestions, do you think there would be benefits if the association allowed racers to choose their sail each day?  Like the 600s and the 18 foot skiffs

Sounds silly on the face of it but..

The big guys can enjoy blatting around when it's windy
The little guys can enjoy the big rig when its light
May sound expensive, as it favours people with two sails, but actually, over several years, its the same wear on tear, just on two sails not one, and the two will last longer
More fun for everyone
More learning for everyone
Less regulation/need for policing
Weather forecasting is part of the skills - need to get right for the sail you commit to on the day
proper fleet results/racing, instead of what we have now, fleet racing (one fleet) and two sets of results

Second suggestion...
Can we pursade RS to make a kiddy/youth/ladies/lightweights rig, same mast with some sticking out, same boom kicker etc.  either same kite or smaller kite

What do you think - its massive fun already but just imagine how much more it would be, we could blatting about in enormous winds with a little sail, the regattas would be more fun in a wider wind band, we might attract youngsters and ladies

Hope to see you all again soon
