cherubs don't have halyards. They use the 12 foot skiff method of tipping the boat over to secure the sails. Mine needs to be adjusted to get it to the top as the cup fitting on the top of the mast has slipped.

We were pointing really badly and also bearing away in that shot i think. I know what has to be done now though so it's all good. It helps to have a good quality photographer to highlight the mistakes.... shame they have to go and publish them om the Y&Y photo page for all to see

Right - who said cherubs have halyards? haha - You prob dont know, but we dont! Rig em on their side, no halyard = less weight, and also on the carbon rigs, no 'bow and arrow' effect! The reason they are a bit long at the top is so the sail can be attatched.

on cherub 2676, still using the old small sails, so a bit short of the mast tip.
The mast has got bendier with a longer tip spliced on, the sail is higher up the mast, making the sail set very flat and loose leech.

Not all cherubs are totally impractical and have to go about this whole process of finding a nice bit of grass or sand stone free beach to gently roll their boat over on. I have halyards, mainly because i had no grass or beach to roll the boat over on at my inland club. Saves loads of time and hassle on rigging... and whats more, there's no rule against it!

This repeated ramping of the Cherub class on this thread is getting a little tiresome.

If you have a great photo then post it; and there are some good Cherub shots but don't turn this into your private chat room ...
