Hi Rupert, Nice to meet you at Haversham (I was the chap asking about the boat at the end of the day). Thanks for the info... now just got to get the boat!

PS congrats on the result.

There were several boats right up there, and 3 in with a shout, but thanks to one of them falling in when doing a 360, right in front of the fleet, making the mark rather larger and putting himself out of contention in the last race, I was able to sneak it by a nose. There were 19 boats out, I think - the biggest turnout of the year, and no wind!

Can't walk today, though, having stretched my quads by spending the day knelt on the edge of the side deck, arched back to see the sail. I'm moving like a thunderbird puppet, and have real trouble with stairs. Most take up yoga again!

I hope I can make it to West Oxford for the Rum and Mincepies on 7th November - maybe we should try and have a forum get together there!

as much as  i like lightnings, i hate very light winds.

unlike my wife.

this week i picked up a newer boat for her (british moth 850).

she sailed it for the first time this morning and won the race, after being three minutes late for her start !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent!!! - you see, this is why i'm still 'coaching' my girlfriend!! "Oooh, might need a bit more 'race' practice/training m'darlin'......."    "Hmmmn, think you need to get used to tuning rig first....." , "NOOOOOO! you can't go racing.....YOU'LL BEAT ME!!!"

I was thinking of coming down to spectate at WOSC - nowhere near good enough to race against you guys (plus no towbar on the car!) but fancied checking out the fleet if i'm able/welcome etc.

I'd not worry about the standard of the fleet - only one way to get quicker, and you might surprise yourself! Plenty of time to get a towbar fitted, too!
