Im not the worlds biggest contender expert but last time I checked they
didnt have a full set of fully battened sails, or toestraps for that
matter...

To be fair, when you look in the pictures it does actually have toe-straps... Don't ask me why, but it does have them. And it also has one full batten, so could be classed as "fully battened" Just playin devil's advocate.... |

OK Strawberry, nice effort, but Isis might have been looking for the oblique toestraps at the back. On very old boats (like this one obviously is, no lower shrouds but diamonds!), they weren't always fitted. I suppose people sailed Contenders differently in those days...
What puzzles me is the plaque number: has the number 41 been painted over in white? It can't be the original sail number, then.... |

My old contender had straps at the back.I used them when I was semi-trapeezing on a reach to steady myself. Mine was a Rondar don't know if this was kept to them or if others did it
